I'm sure you don't really need it...

Even so, I only had you in my thoughts as I prised
that horseshoe from Rosie the old grey mare.
As I cycled to the field I'd saluted three magpies,
got pooed on by a pigeon,
fallen off my bike swerving to avoid a black cat
and landed face first in a warm cow pat.
The four leaf clover lodged in Rosie's hoof
was surely a sign, but it was only when a sack
of salt fell off an overtaking lorry and
flew over my left shoulder that I finally
realised Lady Luck was smiling...
